Proof, not promises
FIBC Case Studies
How processors across chemicals, agriculture, mining and food solved bulk-handling problems with custom FIBC bags engineered for their product, plant and standards.
Every case below is built around a real bulk-packaging problem — contamination, static ignition, abrasive wear, audit failure or simply cost-per-tonne. We design the FIBC, prove it with testing, and stay with the client through scale-up.
Conductive FIBC for a surfactant plant
- Challenge
- Flammable solvent vapour during fill created a constant electrostatic hazard. The plant needed bags that could be reliably grounded and meet IEC 61340-4-4 / NFPA 77 requirements.
- Solution
- Custom Type C groundable FIBC with conductive tapes and a dedicated grounding tab, paired with a conductive PE liner to isolate product from the fabric. Each bag ships with a ground-connection instruction label.
- Result
Zero static incidents across 18 months; filling changeover improved by 30%; passed the buyer’s third-party safety audit.
Dust-tight FIBC for ammonium sulphate fertiliser
- Challenge
- Combustible ammonium sulphate dust was escaping at the filling station, causing product loss and housekeeping issues in a tropical, high-humidity environment.
- Solution
- Type D static-dissipative FIBC with coated fabric, sift-proof seams, and a polypropylene star-seal bottom. No external ground strap required, so loading was faster.
- Result
99.2% fill accuracy; airborne dust and spillage reduced by 40%; fewer rejected loads at port.
Heavy-duty FIBC for copper concentrate
- Challenge
- Copper concentrate is dense, abrasive and sharp. Standard 1,000 kg bags failed at the loops or seams during forklift handling and ocean transit.
- Solution
- 1,500 kg SWL reinforced Type A FIBC with 4 cross-corner lifting loops, body-lifting band, double-stitched seams and an oversized discharge spout for controlled emptying.
- Result
12% lower cost-per-tonne versus steel drums; damage rate in transit fell to <0.5%.
Food-grade FIBC for refined sugar
- Challenge
- A major confectionery supplier needed traceable, clean-room-compatible packaging for a BRCGS-audited facility. Standard bags carried contamination and fibre risk.
- Solution
- Food-grade Type B FIBC with 100% virgin PP, batch-traceable resin, certified food-contact PE liner, and vacuum-sealed inner packaging for transport.
- Result
Passed the third-party food-safety audit on the first attempt; achieved full batch traceability from resin to delivery.
Contained powder handling for active pharmaceutical ingredients
- Challenge
- API powder required containment, moisture protection and clean-room handling from filling through to discharge at the customer’s blending suite.
- Solution
- Aluminium-laminated PE liner inside a conductive Type C outer FIBC, with tamper-evident tie, double-walled construction, and full certification package.
- Result
Moisture ingress reduced to <0.1%; no cross-contamination events over 24 months of supply.
UN-certified FIBC for lithium battery precursor powders
- Challenge
- Cobalt- and nickel-based precursor powders are hazardous for transport and sensitive to moisture and metal contamination.
- Solution
- UN-certified 13H2 FIBC with conductive liner, moisture-barrier foil, strict metal-control production line and individual bag test certificates.
- Result
Secured UN/DOT approval for sea and road freight; zero rejected shipments in the first 12 months.
